Automatically detect events
Get clues to visible weapons, physical conflicts, crowds of people, besides objects or other defined situations.
Use AI video analytics in control rooms to detect defined visible events and receive the relevant image. Synaedge connects your cameras, video management systems and reporting channels. Staff review the context and coordinate response teams with precision.
Starting position and your goal
Emergency calls, alerts and images from multiple camera systems converge in police and operations control rooms. Monitoring every stream continuously is rarely possible. Violence, crowding, visible hazards and blocked routes require timely assessment. AI video analytics provides relevant visual information for review, while the final objective remains a sound human assessment of the situation.

Solution approach – Testable scenarios
Synaedge adds an analytics and automation layer to your existing or planned camera infrastructure. For control-room video analytics, define the connected camera areas, zones, time windows, dwell times and thresholds that support your operating processes. We use your cameras and selected platform to determine which functions are suitable.
When your control room receives a report of a confrontation, suspicious object, smoke or another hazard, staff can call up available cameras in the surrounding area. Video analytics helps them find relevant sequences and review the visible situation at the reported location. This provides additional context for prioritisation and dispatch. The camera view does not replace an emergency call or professional assessment of the situation.
The video analytics can detect objects that appear in the camera view such as visible shot, cutting or static weapons. Your control centre receives an alert with the associated relevant image and can check whether there is a possible dangerous situation. If suspicion is confirmed, you can hand over the information to the competent emergency services according to your specified procedure. Hidden objects are not detected. Tools and similar-looking everyday objects can trigger a hint.
You can have visible movement patterns analysed, which indicate a possible physical confrontation. Your employees check the camera view and evaluate whether an intervention is necessary. This gives you a visual alert early, even if no report has been received from the population yet. The AI cannot reliably assess the context of a movement. Playful, sporting, hectic or helping movements can look similar.
You can measure crowd density in squares, pedestrian areas, transport hubs and outside public buildings. If a defined threshold is exceeded, the control centre receives an alert. You can also assess movement directions and how a gathering develops over time. The analysis does not assess the purpose or legality of an assembly. Camera-based people counts are estimates and must be interpreted accordingly.
You will receive an alert if an object has been reset in a defined area and remains unattended for a specified period. Your control centre can check the relevant image, view earlier sequences and decide whether further clarifications are required. The AI cannot determine whether an object is harmless, lost or dangerous.
You can specify virtual zones in public areas, transportation facilities, from government buildings or within other protected facilities. The analysis detects people or vehicles crossing a defined boundary, moving contrary to a predetermined direction or staying longer than planned in a zone. Your employees assess whether a person or vehicle is actually unauthorised by means of the information available.
Detect visible smoke or flames with suitable cameras. The control room receives an alert and can review the affected zone. Visual analytics can add another detection layer in large outdoor areas, workshops or parts of buildings that are difficult to observe. It does not replace prescribed fire detectors, smoke alarms or technical fire-protection systems.
Receive an alert when someone falls, lies on the ground or remains motionless for a defined period in a monitored area. Staff can review the situation and notify police, emergency services or other designated teams when required. The AI cannot determine whether a medical emergency has actually occurred.
Receive alerts about possible damage, graffiti or tampering involving vehicles, buildings, stops, machines and other public facilities. Video analytics detects visible actions or changes. Staff then determine whether property damage or another relevant incident has occurred.
Analyse monitored areas for objects or waste placed outside designated zones. The designated team receives an image and can review the event. A camera view alone cannot determine whether the placement is illegal.
You can detect vehicles that ride closed zones, disregard defined directions or block rescue and operational routes. Your control centre receives an alert with location and camera view. Further assessment is based on your traffic, safety and application information.
If there is adequate legal basis, you enter indicators of shared camera locations and compare them with lists of searches, notification or blacklists of authorities. Your employees check possible hits based on image quality, match, location, time and other information. An automatic hit alone is not a final proof of identity and does not trigger any incriminating measure without the prescribed examination.
You can narrow down video recording by vehicle type, colour, direction of movement, camera location and period. This means that your employees will find relevant sequences faster, even if there is no identification label. Visible features are used to limit them. They do not automatically allow the unique identification of a vehicle.
Within legally approved video archives, search by visible attributes such as clothing colour, direction of movement, time period and camera location. Results support staff during review. Similar clothing or occlusion can produce inaccurate matches. The search determines neither a person’s identity nor their involvement in an event.
You can track a visible person or vehicle based on recognizable features across multiple cameras and limit possible movement paths. Your employees check the proposed sequences and confirm whether the same object or the same person is actually visible. Cross-camera tracking is not an unequivocal identity determination.
General event analytics does not require face matching. Any biometric comparison requires an assessment of the legal basis, necessity, proportionality and authorisations. The EU AI Act generally prohibits real-time remote biometric identification in publicly accessible spaces for law enforcement. Narrow exceptions require national legislation and, in principle, prior independent approval; internal approval alone is insufficient. Authorised, trained staff review every possible match.
Receive an alert when a camera is covered, rotated or its view changes substantially. This helps you identify technical failures or possible tampering and send the event to the designated team.
You can capture visible traffic jams, blocked intersections, parked vehicles and other obstacles on planned access points. The information supports your disposition in assessing possible directions. They do not replace traffic situation or navigation systems.
Depending on the platform used, your authorised staff can describe the situations you are looking for in natural language. A search query can combine, for example, visible clothing, vehicles, objects, directions of movement and locations. The sequences found are then checked by your employees.
You can merge relevant camera images, times, locations, editing steps and transfers in a defined event workflow. This results in traceable documentation from technical alert to human evaluation and further processing.

Privacy by Design and limitations
Police work, rescue and general security tasks are subject to different legal requirements. The specific processing purpose is decisive. We coordinate AI video analytics for control centres with your purpose, your data protection authority and the applicable EU and national requirements. You retain control over areas, access and reactions.
The analysis records only visible and technically sufficiently recognizable events. Lighting, weather, covering, perspective, resolution and high crowd density influence the results. Misleading and overlooked events are possible.
The event analysis described here does not determine the legality, criminal intent or involvement in an incident. It does not create personality or dangerous profiles and does not derive political stance, origin, religion or emotion.
People counts are estimates. From density and movements, neither the purpose nor the legality or peacefulness of an assembly can be derived. Freedom of assembly, purpose limitation and national requirements must be taken into account separately.
Tools can look like weapons. Returned items are not automatically dangerous. Movementless people are not necessarily in a medical emergency. Your teams check the context; prescribed fire detection and emergency call systems are required.
Similar clothing, vehicle forms or coverings can cause incorrect assignments. A search for a feature or cross-camera assignment is not a final proof of identity. They check the proposed sequences and document the evaluation.
Trade number plate recognition and list comparisons require a sufficiently specific purpose and a sustainable legal basis. Check permitted data sources, location, period, permissions and deletion periods. A hit alone does not justify any stressful measurement.
Biometric identification is not part of the general event analysis. Real-time remote identification in publicly accessible spaces for law enforcement purposes is generally prohibited; only narrow legal exemptions are considered. National authorisation, necessary permits and safeguards must be examined separately. Subsequent identification is also not a legally free alternative.
Your authorised employees assess the situation, check information and decide on prioritisation, disposition and measures. The described solution does not make automatic police decisions and does not trigger any burdensome measures solely because of an AI meeting.
Privacy by Design
For law enforcement authorities in the EU, the Directive (EU) 2016/680, in particular Art. 8, 10, 11 and 27 and the national transposition right. For other administrative, rescue or security tasks, please check the GDPR, especially Art. 5, 6, 25 and 35 and the EDSA video surveillance guidelines according to the specific purpose. The EU AI Act applies additionally. In particular, its limits for biometric identification do not replace either national powers or a data protection legal basis.
Frequently Asked Questions
In many cases yes. We check camera access, video protocols, image quality, network architecture, permissions and existing interfaces for you.
Yes. Depending on your security requirements, processing is possible on edge systems or within your own data centre and network infrastructure.
No. In the solution described here, your authorised employees check technical information and decide on prioritisation, disposition and measures. You define the display and transfer rules. An AI hit alone does not trigger any burdensome police measurement.
You can combine cameras, zones, time slots, object types, stays and multiple event conditions. In addition, security-related hits are verified by your employees.
Yes, provided that the required cameras, records, permissions and legal requirements are met. The results are used to limit their limitation and must be checked by authorised employees.
A recognisable or biometric comparison can be technically possible. You check the legal admissibility separately according to the task, data source, group of people, location and period. Particularly tight EU borders apply to real-time biometric remote decision in public areas. An internal release does not replace the legal basis or required permits.
The Mobile App can provide authorised staff with camera views, alerts and search functions. Approved smartphones or tablets can supply additional video sources through the Cam App. Available functions depend on the platform version, licence, device and integration. Limit access, camera purposes and sharing to the relevant assignment.
For law enforcement by competent authorities, Directive (EU) 2016/680 and the relevant national implementing law apply. For other tasks, assess the GDPR and supplementary national rules. Classification depends on the specific processing purpose. The EU AI Act applies according to the function used and does not replace a legal basis.
The deployment can be done within your own infrastructure. We agree and check operations without data transmission to the USA based on the specific architecture including support, telemetry, updates and subcontractors. Neither the product name nor the EU AI Act guarantees this automatically. The decisive factors are the data flows and contractual requirements.
Masking protects the representation of people. An anonymisation is only possible when people are no longer identifiable with means of reasonably applicable. Original images, other features and linked data must therefore be considered. As long as an assignment remains possible, you will continue to treat the material as personal.
