How crowd detection works
The AI video analysis first detects individual people in the camera image and counts them within a defined area of the camera view. If the defined number of people is exceeded, the system automatically detects a crowd. Two different detection methods can be used for the analysis. In areas where people are fully visible and do not overlap significantly, the system uses person detection. In very dense crowds, where bodies are partially occluded, head detection can be used instead. Additionally, various parameters can be defined:
- Threshold (crowd threshold)
Defines the number of people at which a crowd is detected. - Alarm interval
Determines how frequently new events are reported. - Monitoring area (ROI)
Defines the area within the camera image where crowds should be detected.
